Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American sportscaster. She hosts SportsNation as well as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. She began working for ESPN in 2016. The child of the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual by her age of nine. It is this skill which helped her obtain her first position as a Univision producer assistant Miami. She worked with the producers of national shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The next position she was offered was a Sports Reporter at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. In 2009 she made the move to Rio Grande Valley, Texas in which she was an editor for KNVO48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. Also, she would fill in occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasthe affiliate of Univision Dallas, and she has more responsibility. She reported on all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. Also, she produced Univision 23's local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she acted as anchor. She was promoted as a sports anchor to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The same role she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports show). Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. At some point they moved into Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. Her older sister is also hers. The family moved from Mexico to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. Within a brief time her father split from her mother. She was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect whose name was Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. When on vacation, Antonietta stayed at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed an offer to work. Antonietta still a senior at high school but she knew exactly what career path she was looking for. While deciding if Mount Union was right for her Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. She loved the campus. The university also provided her with the major that she desired. After finishing her high school education, she chose to attend the University with a major with Media Studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor of WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a member. Her professor urged her to have self-confidence and was greatly moved by his passion for journalism.
